Experience the intersection of art and education through the eyes of sixth-grade students from the Flowing Wells Unified School District. Inspired by field trip experiences at the Desert Museum and lessons taught by the Museum’s educators, this exhibition showcases the culmination of their educational journey. Join us in celebrating their creativity and commitment to preserving our natural world!
Join our Opening Reception on Friday, August 16, 3:00-5:00 p.m. to celebrate this show of photographic works by Lorraine DarConte. During the pandemic living in Santa Barbara, California, DarConte spent much of her time in natural spaces with her camera, encountering a whole lot of birds—-snowy egrets, gulls, sandpipers, pelicans, black-necked stilts and more, later re-imagining the images in studio to produce these captivating artworks.
This new exhibition showcases artwork from our talented Art Institute Faculty. The artworks in this exhibit reflect the intricate biodiversity that defines this arid landscape - seed pods, as vessels of potential and renewal, the haunting beauty of skeletons as testimony to the cycle of life and the majestic saguaros with their towering presence, overseeing the desert through the seasons. Open through September 1, 2024.
